This helped them communicate well together in the room. By doing so, we ensured that the new wall color would have the same undertones as the bed. Once we knew which color matched the fabric, we selected a coordinating color off of the paint swatch to use on the walls. Because it’s a large furniture piece in the room, we color matched the paint swatches to the bed. We have a king-size upholstered bed frame that we decided not to replace at this time. When determining a paint color, we considered what elements would remain in the room. It takes a fair amount of time to spackle and feather out the rough patches, but the effort is always worth it in the end. There were several places where the drywall was damaged and patching was necessary. Having bought a foreclosure, our walls were not in the best condition. That’s always a great spring cleaning decision! Decluttering is the quickest way to begin creating a minimalist bedroom. I also decided to wash the carpets while the room was empty. However, I used my preferred decluttering method and completely emptied the space before decluttering. If you’re pressed for time, you can tackle this job with my no-nonsense decluttering approach. So, here’s the step-by-step guide to how I converted our lackluster master space into a gorgeous sleeping sanctuary.

I have affectionately dubbed it our minimalist bedroom oasis. He said it feels like a literal breath of fresh air every time he goes into the bedroom. I am beyond thrilled with how it all turned out! Ryan was shocked at the transformation. My mom stayed with me to help with the kiddos, my mother-in-law helped with the design and shopping, and my father-in-law took charge of the wood accents & installation. You mamas know this obviously wasn’t a solo effort, because babies. It’s exciting to do some spring DIY and I love surprising Ryan with my work when he returns. In an effort to help pass the time, I always work on a home project. Ryan was gone for eleven days, which can certainly feel like an eternity with young babies at home! This year Mission Ahava traveled to Thailand and Cambodia to partner with Sending Hope International to start a home for girls in Cambodia. These babes get a safe home, an education, and a future. Their focus is to rescue the most vulnerable children of the world and to show them the love of Jesus. There are so many great shows to watch right now! Scroll down for the shows I suggest getting ready to binge on and let me know in the comments below what you're loving on Netflix right now.Every spring my husband travels on a mission trip with an amazing nonprofit called Mission Ahava. I'm also the type of person who likes background noise when I'm in the house so if I'm shooting blog photos in this room or putting looks together for some style content, chances are that one of my shows are on in the background.Īnd while we're on the topic of shows, let's talk about Netflix.
#Minimalist bedroom decor movie
While we don't watch a ton of TV in our room it is nice to have it in this room for the nights we feel like cuddling up and watching a movie or for the slower paced mornings where we put on the news while we get ready. I'm also so happy we have a great TV from the Brick in this room too. Because our bathrooms have no natural light, instead of getting ready in the morning in there, I sit on my pouf and do my hair and makeup in front of our bedroom mirror.

One of my favourite pieces in the room has to be my Tillie pouf from the Brick. (Remember how I created an affordable stylish moroccan rug using a simple shag rug from the Brick?!) We swapped out our Warhol posters above the bed and moved them downstairs and sadly, after breaking one of our table lamps we're not finalized in that department but I'm loving how the addition of my DIY moroccan inspired area rug has added some more warmth and a bit of interest to the room. We've re-arranged furniture, swapped out artwork and recently added a new TV from the Brick! While our space is definitely not 'done' (although let's be honest, no room in our house ever is!) I thought we were finally at a place where I could share this space. Good morning and happy Wednesday! Today I wanted to finally show off our minimalist bedroom since I actually haven't shared much of our bedroom since first sharing our plan for this space! For such a small room our bedroom has already undergone a few transformations.
